PROGRAM STRUCTURE

A cohort-based market literacy program

Fundamentals Labs is delivered as a time-bounded cohort for instructional, academic, and research use. This page describes how a cohort works, who does what, and what partners receive during and after the cohort.

What a cohort is

A cohort is a defined access window for a defined group of learners, typically aligned to a module, term, or supervised learning period.

  • Duration: typically 6–10 weeks or a semester (partner-defined)
  • Access: cohort link or QR code distributed by the institution
  • Usage: students read primary disclosures (SEC filings) with optional AI help
  • Outputs: cohort summary and (if applicable) budget-to-actual for the period

Roles and responsibilities

University partner
Runs the cohort locally
  • Chooses cohort window and learner group
  • Distributes the cohort link/QR code
  • Sets classroom expectations and usage norms
  • Optionally enables a brief feedback pulse
Fundamentals Labs
Delivers program and platform
  • Provisions cohorts and access controls
  • Maintains the learning environment and tooling
  • Provides partner support during the cohort window
  • Produces cohort reporting outputs (aggregate)
Fiscal sponsor or funder
Funds access and receives reporting
  • Funds student access and AI compute (if applicable)
  • May specify reporting preferences or restrictions
  • Receives cohort reporting and (if applicable) budget-to-actual

Cohort lifecycle

  1. Setup (pre-cohort): define the cohort window, seat count, institution name, and optional instructor point-of-contact.
  2. Launch: partner distributes a cohort link/QR code; students self-join.
  3. Learning period: students read primary disclosures and use optional AI assistance for terminology, structure, and context.
  4. Support: partner has a clear point of contact for operational issues and cohort readiness (no extra admin systems required).
  5. Closeout: cohort summary delivered; optional debrief call if desired.
  6. Renewal: re-run the template for the next term with minimal changes.

What partners receive
